Samuel

This week Jim explicated 1 Samuel 3. Specifically, we discussed being both Eli and Samuel at the same. But what I most walked away with was the notion of finding an "Eli" in life. So many times we've been told to find a mentor, but what does that mean really?

When I was younger, I naturally assumed that I needed to find a mentor in whatever profession I wanted to be in. In college, this changed to finding someone in the field of study I was in. But I don't think that's what a mentor is. That's not to say that that's not what a mentor could be, but I've been missing the point. A mentor isn't there to help guide your career, they are there to help guide your life, much like Eli did for Samuel.
